The Season of Thankfulness and Giving Back
Today is Giving Tuesday, a global giving event that happens on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Giving back has been integral to our firm since the beginning. To show our support, we have pledged to give back 8% of our net profit each year to local non-profits. In the past five years, we have donated over $80,000 to fund causes and organizations whose work inspires us. We know that actions speak louder than words, so it's important that we also spend time volunteering as well as doing pro bono work for various charities and non-profits. We want to show up for our
4th Annual Climate Symposium this Week
The 4th Annual Climate Adaptive Design Symposium is happening this week at The Collider. This year’s conference theme is “Deep Retrofit” – renovation of existing buildings to promote sustainable design. The two-day event begins on Thursday evening with a lecture that is free and open to the community. Friday’s conference is geared toward design and construction professionals. Six credit hours of professional development will be offered for Friday’s conference and one credit hour for Thursday’s lecture. Continuing education credits will be provided upon request. Jim Samsel Named one of Asheville’s Downtown Heroes
A big congratulations to Jim Samsel for being named one of Asheville's 2017 Downtown Heroes. He was recognized by the Asheville Downtown Association for his dedication to downtown revitalization at the Association's annual meeting on Wednesday night. Jim’s deep and active commitment to Downtown Asheville revitalization spans almost 40 years (1980-2017) and is characterized by his service and contributions. Samsel Home Featured on Modern Architecture Tour
Join Samsel Architects on Saturday, June 3rd for an architectural tour of our project at The Cliffs at Walnut Cove. The event is part of the annual MA! Architecture Tour during the Atlanta Design Festival. Our home featured on the tour showcases modern architecture and thoughtful design. We drew inspiration from traditional prairie motifs and updated them for the 21st century. Throughout the residence, there is a strong theme of horizontal lines integrated with a natural, woodsy palette and a gallery-like aesthetic on the inside. Samsel Architects Works with Wilkesboro on Downtown Rejuvenation
Samsel Architects has teamed up with the town of Wilkesboro to help them forge a new downtown experience. Wilkesboro is in the beginning stages of a downtown rejuvenation with the purpose of restoring vitality to their historic town. WNCGBC hosts CiderFest NC 2016
The WNC Green Building Council will be hosting CiderFest NC 2016 this weekend. This is the fourth year for the cider tasting event, and it will feature local food, live music and, of course, great ciders!
