This home, located outside of Asheville, was completed last spring. It serves as a simple retreat for our clients who are passionate about fly-fishing. When they found a property with a designated trout stream, it was a natural fit. We developed a design that allows them to experience both views and sounds of the creek and a relaxed design style for the cabin which is a counterpoint to their full-time residence.
Our primary challenge was the land, which is remote and steep with limited access for larger vehicles as well as for staging areas. We developed a very efficient footprint to fit the land and to minimize foundation and roof costs. The budget was reasonable, but cost-containment was important throughout the project.
