Meet Chuck Krekelberg! Chuck is a Senior Project M Meet Chuck Krekelberg! Chuck is a Senior Project Manager, who is celebrating his seventeenth year at our studio. He received his Bachelor of Architecture Degree from Cooper Union and his Master of Architecture Degree from Cranbrook. Chuck spent a number of years living and working in Manhattan, Detroit, and New Orleans, prior to moving to Asheville in 2006.⁠

Chuck is the proud parent of a recent UNC Asheville computer science graduate, and his strong interest in architectural education has allowed him opportunities to teach and participate in architectural reviews at universities including Clemson, ⁠Duke, Lawrence Tech, LAIAD, and Tulane.⁠
⁠
Chuck's love of gardening, furniture making, and exotic world cuisine has resulted in a blend of travel and field research that has explored Buddhist landscape design in Japan, multi-story bamboo construction in Indonesia, and the indigenous cuisines of Costa Rica's rainforests.⁠

The exterior palette at Spruce Ridge Cabin emulate The exterior palette at Spruce Ridge Cabin emulates the colors of the forest. Vertical lines reinforce the rhythm of the surrounding trees while a dark pine tar stain complements the tone of the tree bark.⁠

Over the weekend, a couple of our staff volunteere Over the weekend, a couple of our staff volunteered for @pisgahconservancy annual Pisgah Project Day. They helped remove invasive plant species at Ledford Branch Trail. Overall, the event had 450 volunteers spread throughout 20+ projects across the Pisgah Ranger District. Can't wait for next year!
Happy Earth Day! The greenest building is the one Happy Earth Day! The greenest building is the one that is already standing. Reuse of existing buildings and materials is a great way to mitigate carbon emissions. Adaptive reuse is a great option for reducing the amount of embodied carbon, like we did at 52 Broadway Street. The upfit of this historic building saved over 1,000 metric tons of CO2. ⁠
